Looking forwards to slower mining
« on: March 04, 2016, 02:30:43 AM »

I am actually looking forwards to slower mining.
Going out there and filling my hold before the jump cooldown was done really made me consider that mining % perk worthless.
Also being able to fill up a basic frieghter in one roid was concerning, felt more like just a freighter than a miner.

Started making me think there should be a mid sized freighter at a better class for mining.
I had been using a dock builder.

But the price point is kind of vacant for economic vessels.
It essentially goes from 50k to 2million where military has a intermediate selection in the 300k and 1.X million ranges.

I think I should start looking at how modding works and try it out.
But not this weekend, I got plans till tues.

actually I have a question about mining (thought I would add it here instead of starting a new thread since it sorta fits)
when you are setting up your map, there is an option to stop asteroids from respawning, it stats that mines would slowly lose productivity, is there a minimum?
i mean do they grind to a complete halt or stop at; 10% or 25% or 50% etc?
if they stop at a predefined % other than 0% produced then it is an option i would select

That's a good question,
I wonder if it's exclusive to mines or if it's merely mentioning that miners will no longer be helping the economy.

Me personally I haven't tried it as I wish to have a very long term game as opposed to dominating the world asap.

aye, i like to take my time with things as well; im a turtle...
i like the idea of asteroid not respawning (or even respawning slower - maybe an event? - comets fly by to be destroyed creating asteroids) but i dont want to feel rushed into grabbing asteroids before they get eaten either or worry that the economy is going to grind to a halt because the ores will run out in the mines and in the map  :(
hence why ivenever chosen the option, be a pain to play for ages then to find it out the hard way; GRRR! RAGE QUIT!
i exaggerate off course... maybe... i can be rather petulant  ::)

If you set up a generated map without it being fully colonized, unclaimed systems are not mined by AI.

This means you should have lots of juicy asteroids waiting.
That said, they are a huge economy booster.
